Latvian Museum of nature is the oldest natural Sciences complex museum of Baltics and the largest comprehensive repository of natural resources of Latvia. The Museum collects and stores the Latvian's and worlds' collections of natural objects, conducts their scientific research and popularization by creation of expositions, exhibitions and other methods, as well as using the museum collections in various activities related to education in the field of the environment.
The history of the museum has begun in 1845, when representatives of the intelligentsia to Riga was organized the Society of Naturalists (Der Naturforscherverein zu Riga) with a museum and library.

Free admission to the Museum – the last 30 minutes of the Museum, and on Thursdays from 17:00 to 19:00!
